Lyman`s Beach, The nearby Kuʻemanu Heiau, an ancient Hawaiian temple, was a sacred site where offerings were made to the gods for good surf conditions. This heiau is thought to be the only temple dedicated to surfing in Hawaii, illustrating the deep cultural importance of surfing in Hawaiian society. Closest to Kahaluu bay.

The beach is named after the Lyman family, who were early Christian missionaries in Hawaii. The Lyman Mission House and the family`s influence are part of Hawaii`s complex history of cultural exchange and adaptation. Despite this missionary influence, the area around Lyman`s Beach remains rich with traditional Hawaiian culture.
